Why does Mexican diesel vary by region?
Mexico deregulated fuel retail pricing, so stations set their own prices — but the IEPS excise duty and its fiscal stimulus adjustments still shape the floor. Border states receive different stimulus treatment to keep pump prices competitive with the United States, which is why Ciudad Juárez and Tijuana usually post below the national average.
Logistics does the rest. Distance from refineries and import terminals, plus local competition density, moves the price at the pump. Isolated tourist markets such as Cancún carry the longest supply chain and the least price competition, and sit consistently above the national figure.
For a fleet, the pump price is the part you cannot control. Consumption is the part you can — which is where the recoverable money sits.

- Continuous. Mexican stations are legally required to report a price change to the CNE within 24 hours, and the feed is published live rather than on a weekly or monthly cycle. This page reads the feed and refreshes daily.
- Possible delay
- The CNE feed carries no timestamp on individual stations, so there is no way to tell when any particular station last reported. A station that has not changed its price recently may be showing an older figure, and stations occasionally appear more than once in the feed. The date shown on this page is when we read the feed, not when each station reported.
- Posted prices, not your contract rate
- These are retail pump prices including taxes. Fleets buying on fuel card, bulk or contract terms typically pay less. Use these figures for trend and regional comparison — not as the rate your fleet actually pays.
