Why Emissions Fall

The mechanism behind the numbers

Emissions fall because combustion becomes more complete — not because exhaust gases are filtered or chemically treated. CO (carbon monoxide) is produced when carbon atoms burn without enough oxygen. FuelMarble's volumetric efficiency improvement delivers more oxygen per stroke, allowing carbon to fully oxidise to harmless CO₂ instead of escaping as CO. Unburned hydrocarbons (HC) fall for the same reason. NOx reduction follows from the longer, more controlled effective combustion cycle — lower peak temperature spikes mean less nitrogen oxidation.

These are the same combustion physics targeted by turbochargers and direct injection systems. FuelMarble achieves them through coolant-side thermal management — no engine modifications required.

Mechanism

Why FuelMarble Reduces Emissions

Harmful exhaust emissions are almost entirely a product of incomplete combustion. When fuel does not burn completely, it exits the engine as CO, HC, NOx, and particulate matter — all of which are toxic to humans and damaging to the environment.

FuelMarble addresses this at the root cause. By improving coolant performance and stabilising cylinder head temperatures by 8–12°C, it creates optimal conditions for complete fuel burn on every combustion cycle.

Incomplete Combustion
(C₁H₁O) + O₂ CO + HC + ··· + CO₂ + H₂O

When organic materials burn in oxygen-deficient conditions, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and black smoke are produced.

Perfect Combustion
(C₁H₁O) + O₂ CO₂ + H₂O

When organic matter is combined with sufficient oxygen, it forms only carbon dioxide and water — clean exhaust technology at source.

Compliance & Regulation

What FuelMarble Can and Cannot Do Under UK Law

ULEZ / CAZ Zone Compliance Status

ULEZ and Clean Air Zone compliance is determined by a vehicle's DVLA-registered Euro emission standard — checked via ANPR camera, not tailpipe test. A vehicle's Euro standard is fixed at manufacture and cannot be changed by any aftermarket device, including FuelMarble.

Fuel Economy & CO₂ Output

FuelMarble reduces actual fuel consumption by 7–15%, directly cutting your CO₂ output per kilometre. For fleets under Scope 3 reporting obligations (CSRD / UK SDR), this reduces the verified emissions figure that clients and auditors measure.

MOT Emissions Test Results

The MOT emissions test measures actual exhaust output — CO, HC, and NOx concentrations at the tailpipe. FuelMarble's verified reductions (CO −93%, HC/NOx −98%) directly improve these test readings, reducing the risk of failure on emissions grounds.

FORS & Fleet Sustainability Metrics

Fleet operators under FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) or similar accreditation schemes track actual fuel consumption and emission output — not Euro standard classification. FuelMarble improves both metrics with verified, documentable results.

Lower Vehicle Carbon Footprint

Every litre of diesel saved eliminates 2.544 kgCO₂e from your vehicle's Scope 1 emissions. At 7–15% fuel reduction across an average 12,000-mile/year vehicle, that is 90–190 kg CO₂ removed from your annual carbon footprint per vehicle.

Practical Applications

Where Emission Reduction Matters Most

MOT Emissions Failure

The MOT test measures actual tailpipe CO concentration at idle and HC at fast idle. FuelMarble's independently verified 93% CO reduction and 98% HC reduction directly improves these readings. Drivers with vehicles approaching MOT emissions thresholds can install FuelMarble before their retest.

Clean Air Zone Exposure

What FuelMarble can do: reduce your actual tailpipe CO output by up to 93% and NOx by up to 98% — improving your MOT emissions test result and reducing your vehicle's carbon footprint, even if your Euro standard classification stays the same. Applicable for urban drivers in London ULEZ, Birmingham CAZ, Bath CAZ, and Bristol CAZ.

Scope 3 / CSRD Fleet Reporting

Fleet operators under CSRD, UK SDR, or FORS sustainability reporting need documented fuel consumption reduction data. FuelMarble's independently verified 7–15% fuel efficiency improvement reduces your Scope 1 fleet emissions by a calculable amount — with a published test methodology that satisfies auditor requirements.

Reduce Your Vehicle's Emissions Today
